Title: Never Coming Home

Synopsis: First comes love. Then comes murder.
Lucas Forester didn't hate his wife. Michelle was brilliant, sophisticated and beautiful. Sure, she had extravagant spending habits and that petty attitude, a total disregard for anyone below her status. But she also had a lot to offer. Most notably, wealth that only the one percent could comprehend.
For years, Lucas had been honing a flawless plan to inherit Michelle’s fortune. Unfortunately, it involved taking a hit out on her.
Every track was covered, no trace left behind, and now Lucas plays the grieving husband so well he deserves an award. But when a shocking photo and cryptic note show up on his doorstep, Lucas goes from hunter to prey. Someone is onto him. And they’re closing in.Told with dark wit and a sharply feminist sensibility, Never Coming Home is a terrifying tale of duplicity that will have you side-eyeing your spouse as you dash to the breathtaking end. (Synopsis from Goodreads)

My Thoughts: What a thrill! This was an entertaining and attention grabbing story. I had no idea where it was going to go, how things were going to play out, and I enjoyed the journey of finding everything out.
Lucas is not a good guy, but I didn't hate him as much as I thought I would. Considering he put a hit out on her and wanted her dead, you can't say he's a hero. I did like reading about him though.
This was a really enjoyable thriller. I'd definitely recommend checking it out. It's quick and entertaining.

My Thoughts: This was very cute, I liked it. I love a book set in a small town, and Cemetery, Indiana did not disappoint. I just love the feel of small towns and all the characters that make it home. Small towns in books are just lovely. It was great how the people of this town were determined for Yardley to find happiness, and romance.
The romance was very cute too. I liked it a lot. It was just all very sweet.
This book was exactly what I was hoping it would be. It delivered on a nice romance, a quirky town, and fun residents. This is a book that just makes you feel good.

My Thoughts: I really enjoyed this story. This is one of those stories that deals with multiple generations. I loved finding out each story and seeing how they all weaved together. Chanel Cleeton writes some great stories. I end up being really invested in the characters and the situations they are in.
I loved how this story was about family, that was its core.

Who wouldn’t want to live in Brighton Hills? This exclusive community on the Oregon coast is the perfect mix of luxury and natural beauty. Stunning houses nestle beneath mighty Douglas firs, and lush backyards roll down to the lakefront. It’s the kind of place where neighbors look out for one another. Sometimes a little too closely…

Paige lost her son to a hit-and-run last year, and she’s drowning in the kind of grief that makes people do reckless things. All the while, their reclusive new neighbor, Georgia, is acting more strangely every day. But what could such a lovely young mother possibly be hiding?
When you really start to look beyond the airy open floor plans and marble counters, Brighton Hills is filled with secrets. Some big, some little, some deadly. And one by one, they’re about to be revealed… (Synopsis from Goodreads)

My Thoughts: I love a book with secrets and suspicion, and On A Quiet Street had a lot of it. I definitely enjoyed myself reading this one. I love thrillers year round, but a thriller when summer is coming on, it just fits the vibe.
Now, there's a lot of dark stuff going on in this story, so be prepared. It's a mystery/thriller, so I feel like that should be expected.
We follow three characters and get those voices in the story. I enjoyed having the multiple characters to follow while I was trying to figure stuff out.
This was a satisfying read. I enjoyed it and I'll read more by Seraphina Nova Glass.

BLOG TOUR: Adult Assembly Required by Abbi Waxman

I'm really excited to be a part of the Blog Tour for Adult Assembly Required by Abbi Waxman! I received a free electronic copy for honest review from the publisher. Thanks so much to Berkley and Abbi Waxman for letting me be a part of this tour!

Title: Adult Assembly Required
Author: Abbi Waxman
Published by: Berkley
Released: May 17, 2022
Source: Electronic Review Copy Provided by Publisher
Goodreads      Amazon

Synopsis: A young woman arrives in Los Angeles determined to start over, and discovers she doesn’t need to leave everything behind after all, from Abbi Waxman, USA Today bestselling author of The Bookish Life of Nina Hill.
When Laura Costello moves to Los Angeles, trying to escape an overprotective family and the haunting memories of a terrible accident, she doesn’t expect to be homeless after a week. (She’s pretty sure she didn’t start that fire — right?) She also doesn't expect to find herself adopted by a rogue bookseller, installed in a lovely but completely illegal boardinghouse, or challenged to save a losing trivia team from ignominy…but that’s what happens. Add a regretful landlady, a gorgeous housemate and an ex-boyfriend determined to put himself back in the running and you’ll see why Laura isn’t really sure she’s cut out for this adulting thing. Luckily for her, her new friends Nina, Polly and Impossibly Handsome Bob aren't sure either, but maybe if they put their heads (and hearts) together they’ll be able to make it work for them. (Synopsis from Goodreads)

My Thoughts: It's a thumbs up from me! This was a lot of fun and I really enjoyed reading it. Laura Costello is going through some things and decides to move to Los Angeles. That decision brings its own challenges, but it also allows her to find great people and grow within herself.
This was just a sweet story. I liked Laura. I also really liked the cast of supporting characters. I think characters from Abbi's other stories make appearances in this.
If you're looking for something cute to read, I'd definitely recommend this one. It was a good time.

BLOG TOUR: Metropolis by B.A. Shapiro

I'm really excited to be a part of the Blog Tour for Metropolis by B.A. Shapiro! I received a free copy for honest review from the publisher. Thanks so much to Algonquin Books and B.A. Shapiro for letting me be a part of the tour!

Title: Metropolis
Author: B.A. Shapiro
Published by: Algonquin Books
Released: May 17, 2022
Source: Review Copy Provided by Publisher

Synopsis: From bestselling author B. A. Shapiro, a gripping novel that follows six mysterious characters whose lives intersect when a tragedy occurs at the storage facility where they all rent units.
In Metropolis we meet six unforgettable characters who never would have met if not for their rental units at Metropolis Storage Warehouse. When a harrowing accident—or is it an accident?—occurs in the building, each character is forced to consider their life circumstances: Serge, a mentally unstable but brilliant street photographer who lives in his unit; Zach, the storage facility owner and an ex-drug dealer, who purchases Serge’s undeveloped photographs and discovers they contain clues to the mysterious accident. Marta, an undocumented immigrant hiding from ICE in her unit. Liddy, an abused wife and mother, who is responsible for the accident, unless she intended it; Jason, a lawyer who has left his big firm and now practices out of his unit; and Rose, the office manager who takes kickbacks to let people live in the facility and has her own disintegrating family to deal with.
The characters have different backgrounds: they are different races and religions; they’re young, and they’re not so young; they are rich, poor, and somewhere in the middle. As they dip in and out of each other’s stories and struggle to salvage their own lives—as well as discover the truth behind the accident—Metropolis traces how their interlocking narratives connect them and tear them apart. B.A. Shapiro has wrapped an ensemble cast around a mystery that thematically explores the myth of “pulling yourself up by the bootstraps” in current day America. (Synopsis from Goodreads)

My Thoughts: This was an interesting story that I enjoyed reading. I tend to like stories with various characters that interweave. I also love stories that involve a mystery of some sort.
I enjoyed the mystery in this. I liked how clues were scattered here and there, and everything eventually came to light.
I also enjoyed the setting of Storage Warehouse, storage units. I thought that was fun.
A lot of these characters were dealing with serious personal things in their lives. Some of their stories were intense.
I enjoyed this one. I'd recommend giving it a read.

Reading Right Now! (335)

Thank goodness for the weekend, although this week did seem to go by pretty quickly. I took a day off just because I wanted to. It was okay.
As far as reading goes, I'm happy. This year, I've just felt slower, and I don't like that. I'm hoping to get more books read, which will mean I need to stop getting distracted by my phone. I need to set a timer for reading sprints or something. I did find some that I liked. There's one called deepfocus.io which plays soothing sounds, and there's one called pomodoro cat. I should use those more. I've also been tuning in to Reading Sprint Videos, which has been helpful. Anyway, you don't care about any of that.
What I'm Reading Right Now! is...

Frost Burned (Mercy Thompson #7) by Patricia Briggs -- I'm finally back in Mercy's world again! I don't know why I took such a long break from it. I was doing some Readathons, and I needed to fulfill certain prompts, so that's probably why. I missed Mercy though. There's something so comforting about reading this series. I know and like all the characters. Mercy and her pack are always in trouble though, and Frost Burned is no exception. I wonder when she gets downtime.
So, in this one, Adam and the whole pack have been kidnapped by a mystery faction. Mercy must find out who they are, where her pack is, and rescue them.
I'm definitely enjoying it. I've actually got a good idea for a picture for it for my bookstagram haha. It's @gotbookcitement in case you were wondering.

So that's what I'm Reading Right Now! What are you reading?

BLOG TOUR: The Dachshund Wears Prada by Stefanie London

I am excited to be a part of the Blog Tour for The Dachshund Wears Prada by Stefanie London! I received a free electronic copy for honest review from the publisher. Thanks so much to HQN and Stefanie London for letting me be a part of this tour.

Title: The Dachshund Wears Prada
Author: Stefanie London
Published by: HQN
Released: May 3, 2022

Goodreads      Amazon

Synopsis: How do you start over when the biggest mistake of your life has more than one million views?
Forget diamonds—the internet is forever. Social media consultant Isla Thompson learned that lesson the hard way when she went viral for all the wrong reasons. A month later, Isla is still having nightmares about the moment she ruined a young starlet’s career and made herself the most unemployable influencer in Manhattan. But she doesn’t have the luxury of hiding until she’s no longer Instagram poison. Not when her fourteen-year-old sister, Dani, needs Isla to keep a roof over their heads. So, she takes the first job she can get: caring for Camilla, a glossy-maned, foul-tempered hellhound.
After a week of ferrying Camilla from playdates to pet psychics, Isla starts to suspect that the dachshund’s bark is worse than her bite—just like her owner, Theo Garrison. Isla has spent her career working to make people likable and here’s Theo—happy to hide behind his reputation as a brutish recluse. But Theo isn’t a brute—he’s sweet and funny, and Isla should not see him as anything but the man who signs her paychecks. Because loving Theo would mean retreating to his world of secluded luxury, and Isla needs to show Dani that no matter the risk, dreams are always worth chasing. (Synopsis from Goodreads)

My Thoughts: This was a lot of fun and I enjoyed reading it. I really loved how it had a grumpy little dog, some social media danger, and a reclusive dream guy. It just had the perfect mixture of elements that made it really fun to read.
I liked seeing Isla's journey. Social media kind of kicked her in the backside, and now she's trying to survive in a new way. Her interactions with Camilla were just a lot of fun to read. This is one pampered dog. I also didn't realize until reading this that Dachshund is a hard word to spell.
Isla's interactions with Theo were also fun. They complemented each other well.
I had a good time with this book. I could definitely see myself reading more from Stefanie London.

BLOG TOUR: Book Lovers by Emily Henry

I am excited to be a part of the Blog Tour for Book Lovers by Emily Henry! I received a free electronic copy for honest review from the publisher. Thanks so much to Berkley and Emily Henry for letting me be a part of this tour!

Title: Book Lovers
Author: Emily Henry
Published by: Berkley
Released: May 3, 2022
Source: Electronic Review Copy Provided by Publisher
Goodreads      Amazon

Synopsis: One summer. Two rivals. A plot twist they didn’t see coming…
Nora Stephens’ life is books—she’s read them all—and she is not that type of heroine. Not the plucky one, not the laidback dream girl, and especially not the sweetheart. In fact, the only people Nora is a heroine for are her clients, for whom she lands enormous deals as a cutthroat literary agent, and her beloved little sister Libby.
Which is why she agrees to go to Sunshine Falls, North Carolina for the month of August when Libby begs her for a sisters’ trip away—with visions of a small town transformation for Nora, who she’s convinced needs to become the heroine in her own story. But instead of picnics in meadows, or run-ins with a handsome country doctor or bulging-forearmed bartender, Nora keeps bumping into Charlie Lastra, a bookish brooding editor from back in the city. It would be a meet-cute if not for the fact that they’ve met many times and it’s never been cute.
If Nora knows she’s not an ideal heroine, Charlie knows he’s nobody’s hero, but as they are thrown together again and again—in a series of coincidences no editor worth their salt would allow—what they discover might just unravel the carefully crafted stories they’ve written about themselves. (Synopsis from Goodreads)

My Thoughts: Yes!! A new Emily Henry Book! This author has never let me down. I love that it's a book about book people. I'm also loving that this has a small town setting. Bonus Points because it's set in North Carolina, which is where I call home. August in North Carolina is one hot and humid experience.
The love story in this was adorable. I liked the idea of Nora going to this small town and then bumping into someone that she already knew. She wasn't meeting some small town hero, it was a guy that she'd already had encounters with before.
I was just smiling while reading this one. This author writes romance that I can't stop myself from consuming.
This book was a win for me. You should definitely pick it up, it's a good time.

Title: If You Change Your Mind

Synopsis: In this hilarious and heartfelt debut novel, an aspiring screenwriter learns sometimes love has its own script.
Harry wants nothing more than to write Hollywood screenplays. He knows the first step toward achieving that goal is winning a screenwriting competition that will seal his admission into the college of his dreams, so he’s determined to spend his summer free of distractions—also known as boys—and finish his script. After last year, Harry is certain love only exists in the movies anyway.
But then the cause of his first heartbreak, Grant, returns with a secret that could change everything—not to mention, there’s a new boy in town, Logan, who is so charming and sweet, he’s making Harry question everything he knows about romance. As he tries to keep his emotions in check and stick to his perfect plan for the future, Harry's about to learn that life doesn't always follow a script. (Synopsis from Goodreads)

My Thoughts: Pretty cute. It's a satisfying summer read for sure. This does contain a love triangle, and how you feel about them could definitely impact your story enjoyment. I didn't mind the love triangle. Many of the YA books of my youth were full of them, and it was always kind of fun to see who you root for. Harry has to pick between Grant and Logan.
Harry is also writing a screenplay, which was a fun plot point to follow.
I found this to be a lot of fun. The cover just screams summer, which is what I'm wanting right now. This is a cute read.

Reading Right Now! (334)

Posting this one the wrong day, but oh well. I got lazy and couldn't be bothered to write this on the day it was supposed to go up.
What I'm Reading Right Now! is...

The Resting Place by Camilla Sten (translated by Alexandra Fleming) -- I received a free copy of this book for honest review from the publisher. Thank you so much to Minotaur Books for the review copy, because this is one that I really wanted to read. It's already released, so if you want to read it for yourself, you are able to.
I really liked Camilla Sten's first book, The Lost Village. It just had a creepy setting, that I loved, and a really spooky atmosphere. I will say, the ending didn't fulfill all my hopes and dreams, but I really enjoyed going on the journey with that book.
The Resting Place also has a great spooky atmosphere. I am so intrigued. I want to know what is going on. It is set in a isolated manor house that hasn't had anyone living in it for 40 years. Our main character Eleanor inherits it after her grandmother is murdered. She goes to the house with the estate lawyer, her boyfriend, and her aunt. Her Aunt just shows up, they don't have the best relationship.
I just so interested to see where this is going, what is happening. We get diary entries from Eleanor's grandmother's maid. I'm enjoying it. Camilla Sten does a great spooky setting and it's just what I want.
I'm halfway through.

So that's what I'm Reading Right Now! What are you reading?
