I am excited to be a part of the Blog Tour for Woman Last Seen by Adele Parks! I received a free electronic copy for honest review from the publisher. Thanks so much to MIRA and Adele Parks for letting me be a part of the tour.

Title: Woman Last Seen
Author: Adele Parks
Published by: MIRA
Released: February 1, 2022
Source: Electronic Review Copy Provided by Publisher

Synopsis: Leigh Fletcher: happily married stepmom to two gorgeous boys goes missing on Monday. Her husband, Mark, says he knows nothing of her whereabouts. She went to work and just never came home. Their family is shattered.
Kai Janssen: married to wealthy Dutch businessman Daan and vanishes the same week. Kai left their luxurious penthouse and glamorous world without a backward glance. She seemingly evaporated into thin air. Daan is distraught.
Detective Clements knows that people disappear all the time—far too frequently. Most run away from things, some run toward, others are taken but find their way back. A sad few never return. These two women are from very different worlds. Their disappearances are unlikely to be connected. And yet, at a gut level, the detective believes they might be.
How could these women walk away from their families, husbands and homes willingly? Clements is determined to unearth the truth, no matter how shocking and devastating it may be.
#1 Sunday Times bestselling author Adele Parks returns with her most provocative, compelling book to date. (Synopsis from Goodreads)

My Thoughts: I had fun reading this one. The first thing that grabbed my attention was the cover, and then the synopsis really intrigued me. I love a mystery.
This was a book that kept my attention, but it wasn't one I necessarily raced through. It had a slow build up that worked. There was a good twist that added some shock.
I like missing person kinds of thriller stories. Trying to piece together what happened to them, where did they go, who or what is to blame. Detective Clements really makes it an ultimate mission to find out what happened.
Some people might be satisfied with the ending, other people might not be, but I accepted it.
If you're in the mood for a little bit of mystery, I'd definitely pick this one up and give it a read. I'll read more from Adele Parks.

Reading Right Now! (324)

 It is Friday! Hooray!
What I'm Reading Right Now! is...

Oculta (Nocturna #2) by Maya Motayne -- I finally got my hands on the sequel to Nocturna, which was a book I read and enjoyed in either 2020 or 2021. It might have been 2020 when I read it, because it's felt like I've waited a long time for this one. I liked Nocturna. It was a really fun adventure story with a prince, a thief, and magic. I'm enjoying this sequel too. I will admit that I don't really remember everything that happened in the first book, but I'm slowly piecing together what went down.
This is a chunky monkey of a book. 500+ pages. I'd love to finish it before January is over, but who knows if that will actually happen. My reading hasn't gotten off to an impressive start in January 2022.
There is another book that I considered starting, trying to read that two things at once thing, but I haven't picked it up yet.

And that's what I'm Reading Right Now! What are you reading?

BLOG TOUR: The Overnight Guest by Heather Gudenkauf

I am really excited to be a part of the Blog Tour for The Overnight Guest by Heather Gudenkauf! I received a free electronic copy for honest review from the publisher. Thanks so much to Park Row and Heather Gudenkauf for letting me be a part of the tour!

Title: The Overnight Guest
Author: Heather Gudenkauf
Published by: Park Row
Released: January 25, 2022

Synopsis: A woman receives an unexpected visitor during a deadly snowstorm in this chilling thriller from New York Times bestselling author Heather Gudenkauf
She thought she was alone…
True crime writer Wylie Lark doesn’t mind being snowed in at the isolated farmhouse where she’s retreated to write her new book. A cozy fire, complete silence. It would be perfect, if not for the fact that decades earlier, at this very house, two people were murdered in cold blood and a girl disappeared without a trace.
As the storm worsens, Wylie finds herself trapped inside the house, haunted by the secrets contained within its walls—haunted by secrets of her own. Then she discovers a small child in the snow just outside. Bringing the child inside for warmth and safety, she begins to search for answers. But soon it becomes clear that the farmhouse isn’t as isolated as she thought, and someone is willing to do anything to find them. (Synopsis from Goodreads)

My Thoughts: This was great! It was thrilling and chilling, everything that I wanted. The premise of this book was the first thing that really grabbed me. I love books where past and present combine, especially when it's spooky.
I was glued to my seat reading this. I had to see what was going to happen, how it all was going to end.
Heather Gudenkauf did an awesome job on this one. I loved how we got glimpses of the past as well as present. The isolation of it all was terrifying, or the idea of being isolated and then realizing that you're not alone.
I'd definitely recommend giving this one a read. It works as a seasonal read for winter time reading. It also works as a thrilling book where you'll be racing to the last page.

Heather Gudenkauf is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author of The Weight of Silence and Not a Sound.  Heather lives in Iowa with her family.

Thanks so much for checking out my Blog Tour Stop for The Overnight Guest by Heather Gudenkauf! Thank you to Park Row and Heather Gudenkauf for letting me be a part of the tour. I'd definitely grab this one and give it a read.

BLOG TOUR: The Roughest Draft by Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka

Title: The Roughest Draft
Authors: Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka
Published by: Berkley Books
Released: January 25, 2022
Source: Electronic Review Copy Provided By Publisher

Synopsis: They were cowriting literary darlings until they hit a plot hole that turned their lives upside down.
Three years ago, Katrina Freeling and Nathan Van Huysen were the brightest literary stars on the horizon, their cowritten books topping bestseller lists. But on the heels of their greatest success, they ended their partnership on bad terms, for reasons neither would divulge to the public. They haven't spoken since, and never planned to, except they have one final book due on contract.
Facing crossroads in their personal and professional lives, they're forced to reunite. The last thing they ever thought they'd do again is hole up in the tiny Florida town where they wrote their previous book, trying to finish a new manuscript quickly and painlessly. Working through the reasons they've hated each other for the past three years isn't easy, especially not while writing a romantic novel.
While passion and prose push them closer together in the Florida heat, Katrina and Nathan will learn that relationships, like writing, sometimes take a few rough drafts before they get it right. (Synopsis from Goodreads)

My Thoughts: This was cute. I really enjoyed the premise of the story. Two people having to learn to work together again while confronting issues from their past.
This story had two different perspectives, Katrina and Nathan. It also used a lot of flashbacks to tell the story of before.
There are some tough subjects in this book. It focuses on a relationship that started with ups and ended with downs.
I enjoyed this story.

Title: The Ex-Husband

Synopsis: From international bestselling author Karen Hamilton comes another pulse-pounding domestic thriller set against a lush, tropical backdrop as a woman fleeing her past as a con artist finds herself trapped aboard a cruise ship with someone who not only knows about that past, but will stop at nothing to get revenge.
It’s an offer she can’t refuse…and might not survive.
Charlotte has an unsavory past, but she’s on the straight and narrow these days. She was so young then—she married the wrong man, falling for Sam’s sweet-talking charm and charisma, and got caught up in his con artist games.
If only she’d left him before things went too far.
Now Sam is missing. But before he disappeared, he left urgent, cryptic messages about someone threatening him—someone who has been threatening Charlotte, too.
So Charlotte takes a job as a personal assistant for an engagement party aboard a private luxury cruise ship, the Cleobella, to get far away from anyone who means her harm.
But as the Cleobella sails through its glittering destinations, increasingly sinister events haunt the guests, and the turquoise waves and sun-drenched beaches give way to something darker. Someone knows what Charlotte did. Is it the blushing bride? The seemingly placid mother-in-law? Or the mysterious heiress?
Someone knows, and someone wants revenge—before the ship reaches its final port. (Synopsis from Goodreads)

My Thoughts: I thought this was fun. I loved the setting of being stuck on this cruise ship. It was a fast read that kept my attention.
The beginning of this book was a little on the slow side, but I found myself getting more into it further in.
This was also told in alternating timelines, which always makes for interesting reading.
I enjoyed this. I'm always up for thrills, danger, and a cruise.

Karen Hamilton spent her childhood in Angola, Zimbabwe, Belgium and Italy and worked as a flight attendant for many years. Karen is a recent graduate of the Faber Academy and, having now put down roots in Hampshire to raise her young family with her husband, she satisfies her wanderlust by exploring the world through her writing. Reading Right Now! (323)

I've been really lazy with my blog this week. I just haven't felt like turning on my computer when I get home from work. It also was okay because I didn't have any Blog Tours or posts that I was scheduled to do. January has also started off a little slow for me reading wise. I'm sure things will pick up though.
So, what I've been Reading Right Now! is...

Wings of Ebony (#1) by J. Elle -- I've had my eye on this one for a while, just because it's been so hyped. I was also lucky enough to win the sequel in a giveaway, so I knew I needed to read it.
So far, I just think this is okay. I'm finding that I don't like the order the story is told in. I know that sounds like such a weird complaint, but it accurately describes why it's throwing me off a little. The synopsis gives the story of Rue's mom being murdered, and then a dad that she's never met before whisks her off to a magical world of Ghizon. The beginning of the story starts off with Rue sneaking back to her old home from Ghizon in order to give her sister a present, and then things happened. I was just kind of confused. I think if the story had gone in the order of events, I would have had a much better understanding of Rue and the workings of Ghizon. I just think the story could have been told in a way that makes more sense, or there's more character connection.
My thoughts could change, I'm only 30% in it. So far, it's not living up to the hype for me, and I hate that.

So that's what I'm Reading Right Now! What are you reading?

Reading Right Now! (322)

 It's a New Year! Same crap ;)
Sooo, I'm hoping that 2022 will be the year of reading all the things, but I seem to be moving a little slowly at the beginning of it.
What I'm Reading Right Now! is...

Namesake (Fable #2) by Adrienne Young - This is the second book in the Fable Duology. It begins immediately after the first one ends. I probably should have read them back to back, because it took me a little bit of time to remember where we were.
I really like this series. It's a pirate book without screaming from the rooftops that they are pirates. There are some cool magic skills in it too.
I'm reading this a little more slowly then I read the first one, but I'm still really enjoying it. It's definitely a me thing instead of the books fault. I like all the characters, the world, and I'm interested to see what all is going to happen with the plot. I made a good choice when I picked this as one of my first books of 2022.

And that is what I'm Reading Right Now! What are you reading?

BLOG TOUR: The Sorority Murder by Allison Brennan

I am excited to be a part of the Blog Tour for The Sorority Murder by Allison Brennan! I received a free electronic copy for honest review from the publisher. Thanks so much to Mira Books and Allison Brennan for letting me be a part of this tour!

Title: The Sorority Murder
Author: Allison Brennan
Published by: Mira Books
Released: December 28, 2021
Source: Electronic Review Copy from Publisher
Goodreads      Amazon

Synopsis: A popular sorority girl. An unsolved murder. A campus podcast with chilling repercussions.
Lucas Vega is obsessed with the death of Candace Swain, who left a sorority party one night and never came back. Her body was found after two weeks, but the case has grown cold. Three years later while interning at the medical examiner's, Lucas discovers new information, but the police are not interested.
Lucas knows he has several credible pieces of the puzzle. He just isn't sure how they fit together. So he creates a podcast to revisit Candace's last hours. Then he encourages listeners to crowdsource what they remember and invites guest lecturer Regan Merritt, a former US marshal, to come on and share her expertise.
New tips come in that convince Lucas and Regan they are onto something. Then shockingly one of the podcast callers turns up dead. Another hints at Candace's secret life, a much darker picture than Lucas imagined--and one that implicates other sorority sisters. Regan uses her own resources to bolster their theory and learns that Lucas is hiding his own secret. The pressure is on to solve the murder, but first Lucas must come clean about his real motives in pursuing this podcast--before the killer silences him forever. (Synopsis from Goodreads)

My Thoughts: One of my buzzwords is podcast. I love books with podcasts. Especially books that have a crime podcast. As soon as I saw the podcast element in the synopsis, I knew I had to read The Sorority Murder.
I really enjoyed this one. It kept me on the edge of my seat. I was trying to solve the crime just as hard as the characters were. Lucas and Regan made a great team. Lucas had such a dogged determination to solve this case and bring justice for Candace Swain.
There were some parts that could have been a little faster, but I really enjoyed this book overall. I had fun reading it.

BLOG TOUR: Love at First Spite by Anna E. Collins

I am excited to be a part of the Blog Tour for Love at First Spite by Anna E. Collins! I received a free electronic copy for honest review from the publisher. Thanks so much to Graydon House and Anna E. Collins for letting me be a part of this fun tour!

Title: Love at First Spite
Author: Anna E. Collins
Published by: Graydon House
Released: January 4, 2022
Source: Electronic Review Copy from Publisher

Synopsis: Falling in love is the ultimate payback in this delightful, breezy romcom about an interior designer who teams up with an enigmatic architect at her firm to get revenge on her ex the only way she knows how: by building a spite house next door
“Filled with sizzling chemistry and delicious revenge, Love at First Spite had me smiling from start to finish. This is one debut you don’t want to miss!” —Kate Bromley, author of Talk Bookish to Me

They say living well is the best revenge. But sometimes, spreading the misery seems a whole lot more satisfying. That’s interior designer Dani Porter’s justification for buying the vacant lot next to her ex-fiancé’s house…the house they were supposed to live in together, before he cheated on her with their Realtor. Dani plans to build a vacation rental that will a) mess with his view and his peace of mind and b) prove that Dani is not someone to be stepped on. Welcome to project Spite House.
That plan quickly becomes complicated when Dani is forced to team up with Wyatt Montego, the handsome, haughty architect at her firm, and the only person available to draw up blueprints. Wyatt is terse and stern, the kind of man who eats his sandwich with a knife and fork. But as they spend time together on- and off-site, Dani glimpses something deeper beneath that hard veneer, something surprising, vulnerable, and real. And the closer she gets to her goal, the more she wonders if winning revenge could mean losing something infinitely sweeter…

“Rollickingly, fast-paced… Fans of Emily Henry’s tales will enjoy Collins’ imaginative rom-com.” —Booklist

“Wyatt is the perfect grumpy romance hero with a heart of gold. An enemies-to-friends-to-lovers story that’s sure to delight rom-com fans.”
Kirkus Reviews (Synopsis from Goodreads)

My Thoughts: This gets a thumbs up from me. I love books like this. Cute rom-coms filled with romantic tensions and unexpected situations. Books like this are my candy.
Dani is not someone you want to mess with, that's for sure. Her ex totally deserved her revenge plot though, he's a real jerk. Dani has a lot of anger in her heart when it comes to him, and maybe being so close to him in location isn't the best idea. It isn't helping her to focus on her life.
Wyatt is the grump who ends up saving the day. I really liked Dani and Wyatt's path to love. It was a good time to watch. I love those romance stories where they start off irritating one another, and it eventually grows into something more.
I had a good time with Love at First Spite. I liked the characters, I liked the humor, I liked the love. It didn't disappoint. I can't wait to see what this author comes out with next.

Title: The Kindred
Author: Alechia Dow
Published by: Inkyard Press
Released: January 4, 2022
Source: Electronic Review Copy from Publisher
Goodreads      Amazon

Synopsis: “Utterly swoony…an endearing reminder that true love can change the world”
—J. Elle, New York Times bestselling author of Wings of Ebony

To save a galactic kingdom from revolution, Kindred mind-pairings were created to ensure each and every person would be seen and heard, no matter how rich or poor…
Joy Abara knows her place. A commoner from the lowly planet Hali, she lives a simple life—apart from the notoriety that being Kindred to the nobility’s most infamous playboy brings.
Duke Felix Hamdi has a plan. He will exasperate his noble family to the point that they agree to let him choose his own future and finally meet his Kindred face-to-face.
Then the royal family is assassinated, putting Felix next in line for the throne…and accused of the murders. Someone will stop at nothing until he’s dead, which means they’ll target Joy, too. Meeting in person for the first time as they steal a spacecraft and flee amid chaos might not be ideal…and neither is crash-landing on the strange backward planet called Earth. But hiding might just be the perfect way to discover the true strength of the Kindred bond and expose a scandal—and a love—that may decide the future of a galaxy. (Synopsis from Goodreads)

My Thoughts: First off, this cover is beautiful! It was the first thing that caught my eye about this book. I know you're not supposed to judge books based on their covers, but they are usually the first thing that grabs my attention.
I also always a sucker for a YA sci-fi. I can't get enough of them.
I thought The Kindred had a really cool concept. The mind-pairings were very interesting to read about. It kind of reminded me of another YA sci-fi that I read a while ago, which I also enjoyed.
This was just a fun time in a book. I loved all the action and hiding. I liked our duo of Joy and Felix. I had a good time reading this book.
I'd look out for this one, and give it a read when you see it. Support all the sci-fi books so we can get more of them!

My Thoughts: I am always excited to learn of new crimes series to check out, so I jumped at the chance to read this one. I love a good Nordic Noir.
I enjoyed this one. It was definitely dark, and it took me on quite a ride. It's told from multiple POV's, although we do have Hannah Wester as the main character.
This is a very fast paced book, so I was always on the edge of my seat.
This was very enjoyable and I'd definitely continue with this series.
