My Thoughts: Another enjoyable Volume in my re-read of The Walking Dead. I really enjoy reading about this world, this story, and these characters' journeys. It's a bleak story for sure, but I love how it brings up what it really takes to survive.

The biggest thing I noticed right off the bat was that the artist changed. I was a fan of the original illustrator Tony Moore's style, so I can't say I was a big fan of the change. Charlie Adlard's style isn't bad, it's just different. It feels more choppy and rushed then Moore's original art. I assume Adlard will be doing the rest of the art, so I'll just have to get used to his style.

Once again, it's interesting how quickly things happen in the Comic compared to the Show. Just noticing all the differences in each medium is intriguing.

Glenn and Maggie started their relationship, and boy was it quick! I think I liked the build up the Show gave more than this feeling of everybody else is pairing up and I want someone to have sex with.

Another relationship that happened was Dale and Andrea, which I feel a little meh over. I find it kind of weird.

Comic Carol is super different from Show Carol too. It's hard to imagine Comic Carol becoming the tough, tough lady that Show Carol is. Maybe it'll happen and I'll eat my words.

I really like Tyreese. He's a calming presence.

I'm excited to continue on with my re-read, eventually getting to the new material. I love The Walking Dead. It's so dark and bleak, but I love seeing this group of people doing what they can to survive, seeing these characters grow and change. I know the next Volume will be intense because of that last scene!

I just started reading this, so I can't give you full, in depth thoughts. I'm really excited to be on a Blog Tour for this book! My post day is May 3rd, so you know, procrastination for the win! I believe this releases May 1. I received this for free for an honest review through the publisher and Netgalley.

So far, it's almost giving me an old west vibe, but that could just be me projecting or imagining because I tend to like Westerns. Our main character is of mixed race, and she's all alone. People in her town treat her like a pariah just because of the way she looks and the power that she possesses. It's a power that she inherited from her father, Earthsong. But she's now all alone, her family is gone, and she's trying to save her farm, but the back taxes might get her. That's all I've read so far, that's all I know. I'm liking it! I hope to get farther in it this weekend and look for my Blog Tour Post Date!!

My Reading Right Now! Thoughts: I'm currently reading this and enjoying it quite a lot! It's exciting, it's romantic, and it's been really fun to read. I'm excited to read more of it and finish it. I can't wait to see all the happens. It's good and I'd definitely recommend giving it a read.

This book deals with a kidnapping. Tori sees a girl kidnapped in front of her niece's school and becomes part of the investigation. She's doing everything in her power to get the girl back. This kidnapping also brings up dark memories of when Tori was kidnapped as a child.

The subject matter is a worst nightmare. I can't imagine being a part of that and living with the uncertainty of whether that person will ever be found. The world is filled with a lot of scary people, but it's also filled with some good ones. 

If you are looking for a pulse-pounding, exciting, and romantic read, give If I Want You a try. You won't be disappointed.

My Thoughts: This book was a lot of fun. I read the first book, The Conspiracy of Us, sometime last year and really enjoyed it. This sequel didn't disappoint. It was quick, steamy, fun, surprising, and all the other words. After that ending, I'm excited to see how this whole series wraps up. If you like international treasure hunts, romance, and conspiracies, I think you'll like this series.

I will say I was in a weird reading mood while reading this. I kept getting distracted by social media, and kind of kept making excuses to not pick up the book. It was weird, because when I was reading the book, I was enjoying it. I just didn't feel much like reading.

I also had a hard time remembering everything that happened in the first book. I think I waited too long to read the sequel. It took me a little while to get into the sequel because I forgot too many things. I think that this series is best read by bingeing it.

If you're not into love triangles, you might not like this series. The love triangle is kind of prominent. I will say, there were some good, steamy scenes in here. I'm going to have to pick Stellan as my favorite. I think Jack's nice and all, but there's just more chemistry with Stellan. I find him more interesting.

I definitely think this series is fun, and the sequel did not disappoint. Things got so crazy in the second half of the book that I had to keep reading to see what happened. The ending was also crazy. I'm very excited to see what's going to happen in the third book. I want to get my hands on it soon because I need to know how it all ends. This is a series I'd definitely recommend. It's a lot of fun to read.

-- Chew, Volume 12: Sour Grapes by John Layman and Rob Guillory -- THIS IS THE FINAL VOLUME!!! I can't, I just can't. I love this series. I'm excited and a little scared to read this final volume. I don't want it to end. If your humor is slightly off, read this comic series. It's great! I can't wait to see Tony's final adventure.

-- The Corner Shop in Cockleberry Bay by Nicola May -- I was on a Blog Tour for this one. My post is already up if you want to check it out. I'm enjoying this. It's about a girl who inherits a mysterious corner shop. She has no idea who left it to her. She moves to the little seaside town of Cockleberry Bay where her life changes. She also has a dog named Hot. I was sent a free copy to read for an honest review. I'm enjoying it so far. I hope to finish it soon and get up the full review.

My Reading Right Now! Thoughts: This is a cute, fun story! It's about a girl named Rosa who has had kind of a hard life. She really has no family of her own, not a fun childhood, and is kind of floating through life. The story starts with a mysterious brief case, a mysterious inheritance, and Rosa losing yet another job! She opens the briefcase and discovers that she's inherited the Corner Shop in Cockleberry Bay. She has no idea who left it to her or why. The inheritance does come with a catch though, she can't sell it. She journeys down to Cockleberry Bay and discovers a place and people that she comes to love.

I'm currently reading this and am really enjoying it so far. Rosa seems like a spit fire, but that fire hides a girl who never got that family love or affection. She wears her sarcasm like a shield.

The residents of Cockleberry Bay seem nice and a little kooky. I love small town stories. The characters there are always so fun. Everybody knows everybody, there are no secrets. I did find it kind of funny how Rosa tried to keep her inheritance of Cockleberry Bay a secret from the town at first.

I was definitely intrigued by Rosa's inheritance of this mysterious shop from a mysterious person. It came at exactly the right time for her though. It's definitely a story that hooked me.

I loved Hot Dog! I'm a sucker for dogs.

I'm really enjoying the writing style of The Corner Shop in Cockleberry Bay. It definitely pulled me in.

I'm enjoying the story and can't wait to read more of it.

My Thoughts: This is a re-read for me. I'd read the first two massive Compendiums a couple of years ago, but then never continued. I wanted to refresh and start the journey again from the beginning. Also, I think these Volumes are more friendly to read and carry around then the massive Compendiums. They are easier to read and you don't get burnt out from reading too much Walking Dead at a time.

This should be no surprise to anybody, but I LOVE THE WALKING DEAD! I love the story of survival it tells. What will you do to survive? What do you become in the end?

I was a fan of the show first, but I really wanted to read and experience the source material. I think what I found surprising about this first Volume is how fast everything happened. It's always interesting to look back on the show and see what's the same, and what's different. Things that were stretched out for two or three episodes were just a couple of pages in the comic.

I don't know how to feel about what happened to Shane. I feel like it was easier to dislike the show version of him, but I almost ended up feeling sorry for the comic Shane. I felt bad for him.

I really enjoy the art and story of The Walking Dead, and I can't wait to continue my reread. I hope to eventually get to material I haven't read before. I think it will be a long, long, long time before my love for post-apocalyptic zombie fiction dies. I hope I always love it.

What I'm Reading Right Now! is...

Title: A Closed and Common Orbit (Wayfarers #2)

I just started this, so I don't have any really definite opinions about it yet. I will say, my expectations are low, set for mediocre. I fell for the hype when the I read the first book, A Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet, and I don't want to be disappointed like that again. I thought the first book was fine, but it wasn't as amazing as everyone said it was. Nothing really happened in it. I wasn't impressed. So, that's what I'm going to assume this second book will do for me to. 

It only contains a couple of characters from the first book, none of the main ones, so it's not exactly a direct sequel story wise.

I know it's unpopular to not like A Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet, but it is what it is. I thought the book was over hyped. So I'm going into the second book preparing to feel just mediocre about it. If it impresses me and I love it, Great! If not, then I won't be majorly disappointed.

My Reading Right Now! Thoughts: I'm currently reading this and really enjoying it so far. It is a sequel to a previous book, so I will admit to feeling a little bit lost when I first picked it up. I quickly fell into the groove of it though. I love a good psychological thriller, where I question everyone and everything. I also love creepy little towns where not all is right.

This book is set in the 1980s and some of the references go over my head. I was born at the end of the 80's so I was just a baby for all those things. But, for any 80's lovers, you'll probably enjoy this.

I'm liking this and I can't wait to read more of it. Part of me wishes I had read the first book first, just because I have a certain OCD when it comes to book series, but it does say that Visions can be read as a standalone. I can't wait to read more of this and see where it all goes. I will post a full review for it when I finish.

Helen J. Christmas lives on the south coast with her husband. With a love of writing since childhood, she started her decade spanning thriller series 'Same Face Different Place' in 2011 and published her debut novel, 'Beginnings’ in 2012. Visions was the second book of the series and published in 2013; a suspense novel which explores British culture and social history in the 80s as well as the most evil traits people are capable of. The 16th Century cottage in which Helen lives with her husband (restored in 1991) provided endless inspiration for Visions, along with some very special places in Sussex that she loves. Writing is something she fits around her family and social life. Helen is a self employed web designer and works from home with her husband, Peter. They enjoy the company of a faithful border collie and a beautiful white cat, though Helen confesses to have dreamed up many of her storylines, whilst walking Barney around the nearby beach and park.

My Reading Right Now! Thoughts: The synopsis of this just grabbed me. I love zombie anything and everything. They pulled me in by the Walking Dead sales pitch. They got me good. I'm really liking this! 

I seem to fail every time as a reviewer, because I never finish the book by my blog tour date. I aim to fix that, I promise. Since I haven't finished the book yet, I will post a full separate review post for it when I do.

What I can tell you is that this book is just fun! With a synopsis like it has, how can it not be a good time? We've got zombies, we've got Ladies and Lords, we've got the 1920s, and we've got craziness!!

If you're a fan of zombies and the English Ton, I'd say give it a read!

Review: You Can't Hide (Shadow House #2) by Dan Poblocki

Summary: Azumi, Poppy, Marcus, Dylan, and Dash are all trapped inside Larkspur House. The House won't let them leave. Hallways twist and change. Doors lock and disappear.

The Specials also roam the halls, the masked children are dangerous and attack when they spot Poppy, Marcus, Azumi, Dylan, and Dash. Poppy thinks she's found a way to free them from their torment, but doing so is challenging.

They have to escape Larkspur, and maybe they can by figuring out its secrets.

My Thoughts: What a fun book! I'm really loving this series. It's great Middle Grade, it's great horror, and it's great creepy. It is a lot of fun to read.

This sequel had a lot of shocks, twists, and turns. It had some definite surprises which got me.

I will say, I think it's best to read the sequel right after reading The Gathering. You Can't Hide picks right up where The Gathering left off. I ended up being a little lost and confused in the beginning, trying to remember what happened last, but I quickly figured it all out.

This house is just crazy! I really liked finding out all the new secrets, trying to figure out who I could trust. There were also developments I didn't expect.

I really enjoy how well this story, and series, delivers on the scary. It definitely is creepy. I love the addition of the pictures, they just add to the creepiness perfectly. It really reminds me of Japanese Horror, which is a kind of scary all its own. It's the kind of scary, haunted house book I just love reading.

Sometimes the kids could be a little mean to each other. I was reminded how young they were and how annoying they could be, but it was a Middle Grade book, so their attitudes/actions fit with the story.

I'm excited to see where the third book goes. I'm sad that I can't pick it up and read it right now. I want to know what happens with the kids. What is going to happen with Dylan. What new horrors they'll find themselves in. I think this series is great! It is great Middle Grade horror. I'd definitely recommend it.

Then there’s the vampire Sebastian, who seems slightly nicer than most of the bloodsuckers I’ve run into so far. Yes, he’s the hottest being I’ve ever come across, but there’s no way I can trust him. He swears he’s helping me get answers, but there’s more to his story. Now I’m a key pawn in a raging vampire war, and I need to pick the right ally.

But my chances of surviving this war are slim at best, when the side I choose might be the one that wants me dead the most. 

My Currently Reading Thoughts: This book is non-stop from page one! I was thrown into the action and the craziness. It's really good. I didn't realize how much I missed a good vampire tale until I picked up this. It's a thrill ride. I have so many questions, I don't know who to trust, and I'm just very intrigued to see where it all goes.

I really don't know who to trust. Charlie has just watched her aunt get kidnapped by these monsters and suddenly she's stuck in the presence of one. His name is Sebastian, he's cute, but can we trust him?? I don't know. And then she meets up with some other people claiming to be the good guys, but she has bad feelings about them, and I have bad feelings about them. I just don't know who to trust. I feel like I'm in Charlie's journey. We both have no idea what to do. She's handling it probably better than I would though.

I'm really enjoying this. The story is very fast-paced and I've just been flying through it. The writing is very quick and addictive too. It's a really fun story. It's also fun to read a vampire tale again. I kind of forget how much I enjoy them, how fun they are to read. And in the realm of vampire YA lore, I think this is definitely one to sink your teeth into (haha I'm so clever and funny with that pun).

Would I recommend this? Yes! It's a fun read. It's a book that you can just sit down and get sucked into. It's definitely a day or two read. Or if you're one of those super readers, you can probably finish it in a couple hours. As I've gotten older, I feel like I've become a slower reader, so I resent the super readers. I'm mostly joking there, but not really haha. Definitely give Risen a read. I don't think you'll regret it. If you like vampires and non-stop action, READ THIS BOOK!!

I'm currently watching Jessica Jones on Netflix, and I've watched all the other Marvel/Netflix super hero shows, so obviously, I needed more!!! Bella Brown is not the typical super hero personality. She's just a normal person who gets some special skills.

My Currently Reading Thoughts: Bella's life is not what she planned for it to be. Her dreams of becoming a investigative reporter have hit a snag, instead of reporting the hot stories, she's stuck doing stories she doesn't want. Her boss is mean, and makes it a habit of dismissing and embarrassing her. Her life isn't what she thought it would be. It all changes when a story that was meant to be humiliating turns into something exhilarating. Bella Brown now has POWERS!! The question is, what does she do with them?

I love love love Super Power/Super Hero origin stories. I think it comes from the fantasy of wanting super powers for myself. I mean, it's so boring to just be an ordinary human. What kind of powers would I want and what would I do with them? I don't know. And that's what this book is good for, the unintended consequences of becoming extraordinary. It's a secret that is very, very hard to keep.

I'm really enjoying this. I love the idea of it. Bella is a pretty normal character. I think a lot of people can relate to someone like her. Someone that feels stuck, not living their dreams, but just trying to get by. She's also someone that has to put up with some not very nice people, like her boss. She's just a very relatable character. Bella has feelings that we all feel.

And the powers!!! I love the powers.

This is very good. I'd definitely recommend giving it a read. I don't recommend trying sketchy diet pills hoping against hope that you get super powers of your own though.
