Top 5 Wednesday: Top 5 Books I Devoured!

So this is my first Top 5 Wednesday post and I am excited to join in on this fun Wednesday thing. This was started by Lainey and Mindy for book bloggers and booktubers. Each Wednesday a theme is presented and everyone participating picks out 5 things to fit that theme. I've been watching people do these on youtube for awhile and thought I would finally join in on the fun. I decided to do it for my blog so I could add something new to the mix. So now onto this Top 5 Wednesday!!

TOP 5 BOOKS I DEVOURED

There are actually so many books that could be mentioned in this post, but I decided to go with the first 5 that popped into my head. When I really like/love a book, it is hard to pull myself away and I end up devouring it in only a couple of sittings. There are some books that I just couldn't  stop reading because I got so caught up in the story or the world. These are the first 5 books that popped into my head when considering the subject of devouring books.

1. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by J.K. Rowling
I know this one is kind of a duh answer and might be on everyone's list, but it doesn't make it any less true. I love the Harry Potter series. I was already a reader before Harry Potter, but HP just further cemented my love of books and reading. I remember racing through this book and loving every minute of it. I also devoured all the rest of the books in the series. Harry Potter was definitely a book that I devoured.

2. Twilight by Stephenie Meyer
This book might get a lot of hate now, but I am still one of it's fans. I remember seeing this book at Barnes and Noble and being drawn in by the cover and then captivated by the story. I read the first few chapters in Barnes and Noble and knew that I had to buy it, take it home with me, and read the rest. This book just grabbed my attention. I got one of my first fictional boy crushes while reading it. Ahhh Edward (but just book Edward, not movie Edward. Robert Pattinson Edward just didn't do it for me.) I can honestly say that I devoured this book. I didn't feel ashamed for liking it then, and I don't feel ashamed for continuing to like it now. The movies could have been better though.

3. Vicious by V.E. Schwab
This book was so awesome and completely devourable! From the first page, I was hooked and just couldn't stop reading it. Victor and Eli were such compelling characters and I had to race right to the end just to find out the ultimate story. Racing to the finish line was kind of bittersweet though, because this book was so good and it was just a standalone. Honestly I really want a sequel for it because I would love to read more about Victor and his gang. And I want more ExtraOrdinary people. This book is so awesome! If you haven't read it yet, please do. I promise you won't be disappointed.

4. Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier
I actually had to read this for a college class and wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did. Usually with books that I'm forced to read, I don't want to read them. Something about being forced to read a book just puts me off from finishing and or enjoying that book. This wasn't the case at all when I read Rebecca. I loved every minute of the story and the creepy undertones throughout it. This book was so intense and mysterious and I remember devouring it just so I could find out the ending. The funny thing is, you never even know the main character's name. But Rebecca is a great book full of mystery and suspense. Everyone should check it out.

5. The First Days by Rhiannon Frater
I loved this book so much and completely devoured it whole! This is a great book for zombie lovers and helped kickstart my current zombie fiction addiction. This is perfect for those of you who enjoy a good apocalypse now book with zombies as the current disaster. This book was so fast paced and full of action. I really loved every minute of it. If you like zombies, then I guarantee you will devour this book too.

So that's it for the Top 5 Books I Devoured and my first ever Top 5 Wednesday post. I will try my best to do more of these because I think they are a lot of fun and something new and exciting to add to my blog. Here is a list of all the current Top 5 Wednesday-ers

  1. The only book I've read on this list is HP, which totally! Those books are so easy to eat up.

I'm a sucker for a good zombie book (I Have This Is Not a Test on my list today!) so I'll have to add The First Days to my list. :)

    1. Agreed about Harry Potter. Yayy, I'm glad to meet another zombie fan! The First Days is an awesome zombie read and it is also the start of a trilogy. I've yet to read the last one, I really need to get on that. Another great zombie series is Rot & Ruin by Jonathan Maberry.
