My brain is not right at the moment, but I believe I got a beautiful, no dust jacket version of this book in my July Owlcrate. Am I right? I don't even know anymore. I could get up and look, but I am just too lazy for that.

Where Dreams Descend is the startling and romantic first book in Janella Angeles’ debut Kingdom of Cards fantasy duology where magic is both celebrated and feared, and no heart is left unscathed. (Synopsis from Goodreads)
My Thoughts: What a great start to a magical new duology! I liked it a lot. The world building was really interesting and I was swept into this place of magic and secrets. I really enjoyed the author's writing style, she makes everything so vivid and interesting.
I know this is supposed to have some Phantom of the Opera vibes, but I'm not the most knowledgeable about that source material. I liked what it did with that angle.
I enjoyed the characters, learning about them and getting to see their journey.
This book ends with a pretty big cliff-hanger, so I'm going to be anxiously waiting for book two.
This is a great debut and I can't wait to read more from Janella Angeles.
JANELLA ANGELES is a Filipino-American author who got her start in writing through consuming glorious amounts of fanfiction at a young age―which eventually led to penning a few of her own, and later on, creating original stories from her imagination. A lifelong lover of books, she's lucky enough to be working in the business of publishing them on top of writing them. She currently resides in Massachusetts, where she's most likely to be found listening to musicals on repeat and daydreaming too much for her own good. Where DreamsDescend is her first book.
