Review: Professor Gargoyle (#1) by Charles Gilman

Title: Professor Gargoyle (#1)
Author: Charles Gilman
Illustrated by: Eugene Smith
Published by: Quirk Books
Released: 2012
Source: Library

Summary: Robert Arthur can't believe he has to go to Lovecraft Middle School. Lovecraft seems to have popped out of the ground. Six months ago, it didn't even exist, but now, there it stands. It's made of recycled materials and with state-of-the-art technological innovations. Robert doesn't know anybody at this new school, except the bully who tormented him all through elementary school.
All his teachers seem nice, except for Professor Goyle. That guy is just weird. Maybe this whole school is weird. If Robert can just survive seventh grade, he'll be ecstatic.
Welcome to Lovecraft Middle School, where staying alive is harder than moving on to the next grade.
My Thoughts: This was a whole lot of fun! A super quick, super enjoyable, middle grade read. I flew through it and enjoyed every second of it.
The story was very entertaining. It had the right mix of fun and bizarre. It had a very addictive quality too. I can't wait to see what happens next at Lovecraft Middle School.
I LOVED the illustrations too! They fit the story perfectly. Good job Eugene Smith.
I really just loved the whole package of this book. Quirk Books always makes the most unique and creatively packaged books. I hope they never change, because reading the books they publish is an experience.
This first installment in the Lovecraft Middle School series was great! I'm definitely going to continue with it. It's fun reading, and that's what I live for. All the cool people read for fun. Lovecraft Middle School is waiting. Come if you dare!
