Synopsis: A hypnotic, sinister debut mystery about a seemingly good cop who is secretly the daughter of a notorious serial killer.

Anna Koray escaped her father’s darkness long ago. When she was a girl, her childhood memories were sealed away from her conscious mind by a controversial hypnosis treatment. She’s now a decorated sheriff’s lieutenant serving a rural county, conducting an ordinary life far from her father’s shadow.

When Anna kills a man in the line of duty, her suppressed memories return. She dreams of her beloved father, his hands red with blood, surrounded by flower-decked corpses he had sacrificed to the god of the forest.

To Anna’s horror, a serial killer emerges who is copying her father – and who knows who she really is. Is her father still alive, or is this the work of another? Will the killer expose her, destroying everything she has built for herself? Does she want him to?

But as she haunts the forest, using her father’s tricks to the hunt the killer, will she find what she needs most…or lose herself in the gathering darkness? (Synopsis from Goodreads)

My Thoughts: The synopsis for this one really caught my attention. I'm always ready for a dark and twisty tale.
This was a lot of fun to read. It kept me on the edge of my seat, constantly turning the pages.
I really enjoyed Anna as a main character. She had great depth and was fun to follow.
I think a lot of people will enjoy this one. It should definitely be added to all the thriller tbr piles.

Synopsis: Set sail for adventure and love in the next spicy fantasy romance from Katee Robert, the New York Times bestselling author of the TikTok smash hit Neon Gods .

As a bloodline vampire, Lizzie has never had a problem taking what she wants, and right now what she wants are the family heirlooms that were stolen from her and a portal home. Too bad even that short list is impossible to accomplish on her own—and her allies have bigger things to worry about.

When they rescue a selkie from captivity, it’s the perfect solution to her problem. Lizzie needs a guide through Threshold and the selkie needs someone to help her get her skin back.  Maeve didn’t choose to give up her skin—it was stolen from her. Now she’s in an uneasy partnership with a dangerous woman who seems more apt to kill than to share a kind word. It’s terrifying…and a bit alluring. Even though she knows it will end in heartbreak, Maeve can’t help being drawn to Lizzie and her all-too-pleasurable vampire bite.

Unfortunately, the danger to Maeve’s heart is the least of her worries. The ship Lizzie’s chasing belongs to the Cŵn Annwn, and they don’t take kindly to people who steal from them. Not even Lizzie’s viciousness or Maeve’s selkie strength will be enough to save them if the Cŵn Annwn seek retribution…

My Thoughts: A fantasy romance on the high seas is so much fun! Give me that horizon.
I've read a few of Katee Robert's other books, and they've always delivered what they promised too. Blood on the Tide is no different in that way. If you're looking for some romance, you'll get it with this one.
This series is fun because it incorporates different creatures into this seafaring adventure. Our main character is a vampire and we have a rescued selkie.
I can see a lot of people enjoying this one.
The cover is really fun too.

Synopsis: A strikingly original and absorbing mystery about a white-passing bookbinder in Victorian England and the secrets lurking on the estate where we she works, for fans of Fingersmith and The Confessions of Frannie Langton

The library is under lock and key. But its secrets can't be contained.

1896. After he brought her home from Jamaica as a baby, Florence's father had her hair hot-combed to make her look like the other girls. But as a young woman, Florence is not so easy to tame—and when she brings scandal to his door, the bookbinder throws her onto the streets of Manchester.

Intercepting her father's latest commission, Florence talks her way into the remote, forbidding Rose Hall to restore its collection of rare books. Lord Francis Belfield's library is old and full of secrets—but none so intriguing as the whispers about his late wife.

Then one night, the library is broken into. Strangely, all the priceless tomes remain untouched. Florence is puzzled, until she discovers a half-burned book in the fireplace. She realizes with horror that someone has found and set fire to the secret diary of Lord Belfield's wife–which may hold the clue to her fate…

Evocative, arresting and tightly plotted, The Library Thief is at once a propulsive Gothic mystery and a striking exploration of race, gender and self-discovery in Victorian England.

My Thoughts: I was captivated by the synopsis for this story right away. I love books about books and libraries. I also love a good gothic story. There were a lot of things that captured my eye when it came to this book.
I really enjoyed following and seeing where this story was going to go. It covered a lot of interesting topics. I really enjoyed the book binding parts. I was also a sucker for the mystery. I can't stand not knowing the what, why, and who.
I enjoyed this one. I can see a lot of other people liking it too.

Synopsis: A family saga that begins at the dawn of the Chinese Revolution and spans 100 years to trace the intricate lives of four generations of Chinese and Chinese American women

In 1917, at the dawn of the Chinese Revolution, Yunhong grows up in the southern China countryside and falls in love with the son of a wealthy landlord--but on the night of her wedding, her brother destroys the marriage before it has lasted even a day. Yunhong’s daughter Yuexin will never know her father. She passes that sorrow on to her daughters Hongxing and Yonghong, who come of age in the years following Mao’s death, battling the push and pull of political forces as they forge their own paths. Each generation guards its secrets, leaving Emily, living in contemporary America, to piece together what actually happened between her mother and her sister, and to understand the weight of their shared history. My Thoughts:
I really enjoy generational stories and historical novels, so I had a good time reading Their Divine Fires. If you like books the delve into history, then you'll enjoy this one.
This book packs in a bunch of history, especially considering how short it was. I didn't have knowledge on some of the events covered, and the story doesn't really go into an explanation. Luckily it's easy to look stuff up.
I can see a lot of people enjoying this one. I'm glad I got to read it.
