Synopsis:Two best friends. Ten summer trips. One last chance to fall in love.
Poppy and Alex. Alex and Poppy. They have nothing in common. She’s a wild child; he wears khakis. She has insatiable wanderlust; he prefers to stay home with a book. And somehow, ever since a fateful car share home from college many years ago, they are the very best of friends. For most of the year they live far apart—she’s in New York City, and he’s in their small hometown—but every summer, for a decade, they have taken one glorious week of vacation together.
Until two years ago, when they ruined everything. They haven’t spoken since.
Poppy has everything she should want, but she’s stuck in a rut. When someone asks when she was last truly happy, she knows, without a doubt, it was on that ill-fated, final trip with Alex. And so, she decides to convince her best friend to take one more vacation together—lay everything on the table, make it all right. Miraculously, he agrees.
Now she has a week to fix everything. If only she can get around the one big truth that has always stood quietly in the middle of their seemingly perfect relationship. What could possibly go wrong?
From the New York Times bestselling author of Beach Read, a sparkling new novel that will leave you with the warm, hazy afterglow usually reserved for the best vacations. (Synopsis from Goodreads)

My Thoughts: *grabby hands* I've been so excited to read this book! After the hard year of 2020, and the beginning of 2021 being not that much better, books have been a great escape for me. I mean, I escaped into books even before this pandemic, but it's just a nice feeling to get lost in someone else's world for a while. This also gave me a little bit of that vacation feel, which I've been missing.
This story includes one of the most adorable romantic tropes that is great when it's done right, and that is friends to lovers. Even better is that these are the most unlikely of friends and it succeeds so well in the relationship department. Now, Alex and Poppy's relationship is a little complicated. It's a wonder that they are even friends at all since they are so different, but those differences are what really make them work.
People We Meet on Vacation did it oh so right. I just felt good reading this story. It put a smile on my face. I couldn't wait to turn the page to see what was going to happen next. It was everything that I wanted. I was a little worried that the hype would be too much and I'd end up disappointed, but that didn't happen. This was slow burn adorableness, and it was great.
I'd definitely recommend giving this one a read. If you want some happiness and romance in your life, pick up People We Meet on Vacation. I'm so glad I got to experience it.
